Christian or Public School?

A common question is, “shouldn’t Christian parents send their kids to the public schools so that they can be missionaries in those schools?”

Our answer to that is nowhere in the Bible does God instruct parents to send their children to be missionaries.  Instead, over and over again, God instructs parents to raise their children in the knowledge and fear of the Lord.  Parents are called to train up children in the way in which they should go.  So much in this world pushes, and pulls, and lies to our children, seeking to lure them in ways they should not go…why would you not partner with a school that wants to partner with you?

At Valley Christian, your child will be surrounded by truth and love. They will be taught and inspired to become all that God would have them be, as the unique individual they are –strong and confident in the Lord. When church, home, and school work together children are truly blessed, built-up, and prepared to serve in a world that would tear them down.

The Bottom line

The average student spends 1,600 hours per year in school.  We believe that God would not have this huge amount of time, which is specifically devoted to education, excluded from when His children are taught about Him.

God tells parents in the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy, “Teach the words I command you diligently to your children.  Talk about them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

The school that a parent chooses for their child is one of the most significant choices to make.  It is really a choice of whom to partner with in raising and educating their child.

If the primary calling of parents is to raise children in the knowledge and fear of the Lord – the choice is clear.

Every student has the opportunity to engage with a faculty who are mature in their faith on a daily basis.  Students build relationships while learning about foundations of Christianity, apologetics, relations, principles of leadership and systematic theology in their daily Bible classes.  In addition to the Biblical worldview that is saturated into every class taught at VCHS, students are presented with many opportunities to grow and share their faith outside of the classroom.

Our faculty encourage and guide students to give their best effort in pursuing excellence and maximizing their God-given gifts.  At VCHS, our faculty are invested in seeing our students succeed and will challenge and prepare them for college and for life.  Our highly qualified teachers are mature in their faith and mentor students in their spiritual and academic development.
