Biography
Maia cherishes her relationships with God and others, viewing each day as an opportunity to deepen those connections. It brings her joy when this happens simultaneously, and she is thankful that Valley provides an environment that makes it possible. She loves connecting Valley families, whether at events, mom’s coffees, making introductions, or helping them engage through volunteering or donating to support the Valley Christian mission.
Raised as a country bumpkin in Alaska, Maia moved with her family at the age of ten to a small Scandinavian town across the Puget Sound from Seattle. She loved every sport she could try, which brought her to the University of Arizona to run for their cross country and track teams.
Through the campus ministry Athletes in Action, she heard the gospel for the first time and became a Christian the summer after her freshman year in college. After earning her degrees in Marketing and Business Management, she moved to the Valley to start the Phoenix Christian Business Directory for a company based in Colorado. Three years later, she founded Christian Business Networking, which grew into a network of over 4,000 professionals throughout the Southwest. That same year, she met her amazing husband, Matt, and they married the following year. They raised their children—engineering-minded Jed and gregarious Cahlea—in Chandler until 2017, when they moved to Charlotte, NC, for what they call their three-year vacation. While they loved exploring the East Coast, they are thankful that God brought them back to Arizona specifically for Jed to attend VCS for high school. Jed is now off at college at Embry-Riddle, and Cahlea is a freshman who will graduate in 2028. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, corny jokes, anything competitive, and anything outdoors, especially hiking, running, doing yard work, mountain biking, pickleball, and traveling.
