What did you do after Valley? Where did your life take you?
After graduating from Valley, I headed to Arizona State University where I studied Entrepreneurship and Marketing at the W.P. Carey School of Business. While I was working on my business degrees, I pursued my love of fashion and founded the club Business of Fashion at ASU and an online publication, CoutureintheSuburbs.com.
After a few jobs working in the admittedly small (but growing!) Arizona fashion scene, I have taken the leap to transform Couture in the Suburbs from a hobby into a full-fledged career. It’s an exciting journey, full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Tell us a little about your daily work:
Every day is different when you’re working on a start up! One day it might be meeting with advertisers, the next is could be producing a photo shoot. The variety is what keeps it interesting and challenging.
The one thing that is constant is my social media presence! I always have my iPhone in my hand to snap Instagram shots or post a fun video to Snapchat.
What’s one surprising thing we don’t know about you?
I’m actually a Mac & Cheese connoisseur. I have a list of my favorite places in AZ, and always like to try the dish at new places when I am traveling.
While you were at VCHS, which teachers, coaches or classmates had the biggest impact on you?
Abigail Lucero – Cheer Coach. She taught me how to work hard, follow my dreams, and contributed to my love of fashion!
How do you stay connected with your friends from Valley and VCHS?
Facebook & Instagram 🙂
What’s one lasting memory you have of VCHS?
My favorite memory from VCHS was when our cheer team won State in all 3 categories my Senior Year. We worked so hard all year, and wanted the victory more than anything. It was incredible to see that hard work pay off, and that experience helped me develop my work ethic throughout college and my career.
Do you have any advice for current students?
Be involved in as many things as you can! Not only will being involved help you develop invaluable skills for later in life, it will also contribute to your favorite memories of high school.
