The school year is off and running. There is excitement in the air with the anticipation of new things to experience, connection with old friends, and the relief of a new start for some. The first day of school started with an all-school assembly where we prayed, worshiped, sang the fight song and reviewed some school rules. It has been amazing to see the students and faculty that God has brought together under the umbrella of the Valley community. In the past, God has always done wonderful things to bond us as a community. I look forward to how He is going to do this again.
This year we have been blessed with 355 students. This is the largest enrollment we have had in six years. The number of students in the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes are 89, 116, 76 and 74 respectively. We also have six new teachers and two new staff members.
As I sit back once again into the seat of principal of Valley Christian High School, I cannot help but be reminded of Psalm 57:10. “For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.” This is my 32nd year at VCHS and the Lord has truly been faithful throughout my tenure here at the school.
This has been evidenced through countless events throughout the school’s 33 year history. The foresight of the six founding board members, our first campus at Bethany Christian Church (Sun Valley Tempe), provisions of a temporary campus at a strip mall at Broadway and Price, and the efforts of a host of people to raise funds for this current campus, are a few that come to mind.
Going forward, you have our commitment as a faculty, staff and school that we will build on the programs we have already established and will continue to permeate them with God’s Word. We are truly excited about the plans the Lord has for this school in the future.
