We are saddened to announce the death of Valley Christian alumnus Justin Kyle Lett ’07. Justin was killed in Birmingham, Alabama on May 13.
Justin leaves a mighty legacy of love and passion for life and people. He was described by one of his pastors in Alabama as a “mighty man of God” and was active at his home church in Birmingham. We most recently got to see Justin last year for his 10 year reunion and his passion for life and his friends was clearly evident.
Justin was a member of the 2005 state championship football team. During his senior year in 2006, he was a team captain and had 25 caches for 468 yards and eight touchdowns on Valley Christian’s 12-1 team that lost its only game in the state final.
After graduating from Valley Christian, he attended Samford University. He walked on to the football team at Samford and graduated in 2011 with a double major in Entrepreneurship and Marketing.
One of his friends, James Fitzgerald, told AZCentral.com, “”I’ll never forget when we won the state championship in 2009 how happy he was for not just me but for Valley Christian. He most importantly taught me what it meant to be a man of Christ and a disciple.”
The Lett family issued the following statement, “Justin loved people and lived life with passion and will forever live on in our hearts and minds. We as Justin’s family, know that he had a deep relationship with Jesus and he is now in heaven with his Savior.”
We ask that you please keep Justin’s parents, Randy and Debbie, and his brother, Josh ’04, in your prayers; as well as all of his family and friends during this difficult time.
