Valley Christian High School in Chandler will host a special Veterans Day service on Wednesday, November 11. Veterans are invited to join the students and staff for this special event.
In honor of Veterans Day, the school will take a hour out of the academic day to recognize and thank veterans and active members of all branches of our military who are in attendance.
The service will also recognize alumni in attendance who have served and also active duty alumni who have sent messages to the school.
Seventy-six-year old Army veteran Lt. Col. Fred Shirley will give his first-hand account to the audience about the sacrifices necessary to maintain our freedoms. Having served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, including two years in Saigon during the Vietnam War, Lt. Col. Shirley is the recipient of three Silver Star Medals, the Legion of Merit and four Bronze Star Medals.
The Valley Christian choir will also perform the service hymns and lead other patriotic music selections. The Chandler High School JROTC will be on hand to present the colors.
The Veterans Day service will be held in the gymnasium on November 11 from 9:00-10:00am.
Valley Christian is located at 6900 W. Galveston St in Chandler, Arizona. Additional information on the service can be found at valleychristianaz.org/veterans.
