Class of 2020 and Parents,

I just want to take a few minutes to first thank you for your patience. We realize it has to be extremely frustrating not knowing how to plan for graduation and other momentous events that go along with being a senior. Not only that, we share in your disappointment in having to miss out on a lot of key events that culminate during the senior year. It does not seem fair that the present circumstances are causing some of these momentous events to be canceled.

While we do realize that the situation could change, we also realize that plans need to be made for families. At this time, we are not planning on hosting Baccalaureate this year and Senior Trip has been cancelled.
Since the announcement of Arizona’s Stay at Home order, we have been making plans to celebrate our graduates as best as we can while following the social distancing and other safety recommendations put in place by the State of Arizona and CDC.

It is our strong desire, and I know that of our graduates, to celebrate in person and not virtually. We have developed several plans to host a graduation ceremony on May 22, including hosting a modified in-person ceremony with our seniors and their immediate family.

These plans have been vetted by the Office of the Governor in order to ensure the public health and safety and assure that we’re complying with the current Stay at Home order. Given the fluidity of the situation, we have been cautious to not commit to any plan for graduation until the governor either extends, expires, or modifies the Stay at Home order for the month of May. We anticipate this announcement will come next week.

We will be looking for Governor’s Ducey announcement to guide our decisions and will continue to work with his office as we work to fully celebrate our Class of 2020. Additional information on the modified graduation ceremony will be released as it becomes available.

Thank you again for your patience and support during this time. We wish things could be different and care for our seniors deeply. We will continue to do our very best to honor our seniors, celebrate their accomplishments, and create a hallmark event that is special for them.

Head of School
