Heather was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating from Western Washington University in 1997, she moved to Arizona to attend graduate school at Arizona State University. Shortly after moving to Arizona, she met and later married her husband, Gary. They have three children, Karl (Class of 2021), Rebekah, and David.

Heather earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Washington University in Mathematics in 1997. She then went on to earn a Master of Natural Science Degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Physics from Arizona State University in 2001. While a graduate student, she received the ARCS scholarship. Heather later earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a dual concentration in Methods and Curriculum and STEM Education in 2015.

After devoting 10 years to the raising of her children, Heather began teaching middle school math and science at Gethsemane Lutheran School in 2012. She also ran the NASP – National Archery in the Schools Program at Gethsemane for the last two years. Heather will be teaching math at Valley Christian Junior High.

Heather enjoys cooking and baking, reading, and spending time with her family. Her family enjoys traveling, hiking, and camping. They have also hosted a weekly home Bible study since they were married.
