Biography

Dan was born and raised in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps infantry, spending time in both Virginia and California (Camp Pendleton), while also being deployed to several locations around the globe. These experiences had a significant impact, strengthening his faith, appreciation for our country, and knowledge of the Lord’s world outside of the U.S.

Post Marine Corps, he graduated from Arizona State University (BA in History/Sociology and a MA in Secondary Education) and Northern Arizona University (MA in Educational Leadership). Prior to serving with VCS, Dan taught U.S. history and government for six years, followed by 11 years as a school administrator (Assistant Principal/Athletic Director & Junior High Principal) in the East Valley. Over a decade was also spent coaching athletes in football, wrestling and track & field.

The Johnson family is truly blessed to be part of the VCS community. Dan looks forward to serving alongside the incredible VCS staff, students and families to equip our students to be culture changers for Christ. All of us striving to be a light within VCS, our surrounding communities, and this country. Leading by example, through service together, will continue to build and strengthen our growing K-8 campus.

He is married to his wife, Nicole, and has two sons who attend Valley Christian on the K-8 Campus – such blessing to see his boys at work each and every day! Outside of VCS and attending church services, Dan enjoys being outdoors, reading, and following athletic teams with his family. A great deal of time is also spent both coaching and watching his competitive sons, who are involved in sports every season of the year!
