On Friday, February 6, the Valley Christian Choir and Drama Team traveled to Phoenix to perform at the Phoenix Dream Center.
The Phoenix Dream Center is a volunteer driven nonprofit organization, which exists to serve the homeless, low-income, at risk youth and struggling individuals and families by providing resources, opportunities and supportive services to help them realize their dream of living a self-sufficient life. The Dream Center currently serves over 40,000 people each month.
The Valley students led worship and performed dramatic pieces for those in attendance. Below are reflections from Valley Christian students after the evening.
“The Phoenix Dream Center felt like it was filled with God’s love.”- Alex Booth, Freshman
“Phoenix Dream Center was such a great moment. It was a moment when we weren’t performing but leading in worship. I loved seeing God move in the people of the Dream Center, but also what God did in our Choir. He impacted so many students to the point of tears. My favorite moment of the night was the song, “Victor’s Crown”. When we began to sing the bridge of the song, true worship began to come out. People’s hands were lifted high just praising the Lord. This is my favorite thing we have done. I was able to see the true difference between my old school and Valley Christian. The desire for God is way more evident here at Valley. By the end of the night, I was able to officially say I made a good decision switching schools. I believe God is going to do such great things, and I can’t wait to see it.” – Lexi Kirkpatrick, Junior
“The whole thing, especially the Rope Skit by the Drama Team was really impactful to me personally. After the service, I called four of my closest friends over and had them pray with me. I rededicated my life to Christ.”- Freshman
“My experience at the Dream Center was amazing. To be 100% honest, I have not felt that close to God in a long time. It opened my eyes to why I felt so called to be a part of Choir because I see how it is changing me as a person. The most memorable moment at the concert was when I looked at the crowd and saw people shouting “Amen” and just seeing the Holy Spirit work in their lives. I received such a confidence so fast and praising the Lord is so much easier here at Valley because I feel like I am in such a strong environment.” Kalina Newcomb, Senior
“The most memorable part was when the lady in front of me raised her hands and said “I am forgiven”. Then it hit me. I don’t deserve God’s forgiveness but He chooses to forgive me”. Before Friday I had been labeled as a Christian, and I knew I believed in God, but on Friday I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.” – Delaney Thomas, Sophomore
“My first experience there at the Dream Center was a very moving one. Seeing people who some don’t have homes or even families, but yet still stick with and believe in Christ is just amazing. I loved having the chance to sing and worship with them.” – Bobby Zeder, Freshman
