Valley Christian High School offers over 30 chapels every school year. The themes range from books of the Bible to issues teens are facing in today’s society. For the next four weeks, the students of Ministry Development chose the theme, “Within the Walls,” focusing on topics that are relevant to a student at VCHS including: Identity, Respect, and Temptation.
Today, the issue of Identity was dealt with in some powerful ways. In addition to wonderful worship led by Lexi Kirkpatrick, Isabella Rea, and Elisa Maxwell, our teachers were current VCHS students. Senior Steven Widger mightily spoke about the problem of “I,” out of Genesis 3, and Junior Aaron Best followed that up with an extremely persuasive message out of Romans 12. What a joy to see some of Valley’s own preach!
Additionally, 50 VCHS students participated in a “Hands” video portraying are “old” and “new” identities in Christ. Students admitted to past/current struggles and how they’re allowing Christ to deal with them.
Finally, Tonk called for a challenge at the end of chapel asking students to come out of the bleachers who needed to be prayed for. Several students found their way down front and were prayed for as the worship team sang the chorus to “Beautiful Things.”
A powerful morning at VCHS!
