The Lady Trojans not only played their first ever truly home game on Monday, but they did so in style, with a 15-1 victory over Horizon Honors. Many former coaches and players were on hand for the pregame ceremonies and longtime Valley Christian athletic director and teacher Marlin Broek threw out the first pitch on the field.
Following all of the festivities, the Trojans wasted no time in breaking in their new field. Sophomore Mara Kemmer struck out an incredible 16 batters through 5 innings, while the Trojans were led on offense by junior Tatum France who went 3-3 with 2 runs and 4 RBIs.
Thanks to the more than 150 in attendance for helping to make the first game a memorable one! Thanks, also, to all of those who have helped to make this field and this project a reality, through your time, your talent, your prayer, or your resources. It takes an entire community to get this type of project done, and we are so thankful for Valley’s supportive community.
There are now more than 80 bricks that will line the walkway next to the field, and we will continue to sell bricks throughout the season before they are set down permanently at the end of this season. We’d love to have more than 150 bricks representing current and former students, players, teachers, businesses, partners, etc, so please considerpurchasing a brick today. We still need to raise $40,000 or so to finish the field, and every brick purchased for $100 gets us one step closer to fully funding this project.
