Dear VCS families,

As you have undoubtedly heard by now, the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned the Roe v. Wade decision from 1973, at which time the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States generally protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose to have an abortion. Valley Christian Schools celebrates and applauds this federal ruling that asserts that the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion, but returns the issue to the states and people. We encourage our community to pray alongside us for our federal, state, and local governments and all in authority, that we might all live godly and dignified lives in every way (1 Timothy 2:1–2).

Earlier this year, the VCS leadership and Board of Directors worked to further define the school’s position on several topics, including the sanctity of life. This definition included:

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Psalm 139)

Believing that every human is made in the image of God and has inherent value, we rejoice in this ruling and continue to pray for the unborn children who remain unprotected in many states.

We also pray for those who are hurting and afraid, for mothers in need, and families facing crisis. As those who have been redeemed through Christ Jesus and believe the Good News of Christ’s love, let us offer hope and our help to mothers and families who feel unsupported, trapped, or that there may be no other way. Let us commit to show Christ’s love to all. We are the hands and feet of Jesus, and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Soli Deo gloria.

Glory to God alone.
