Valley Christian High School has tabbed Peter Tago as the school’s new varsity baseball coach.

The former first round pick in the MLB Draft brings professional experience and a passion for player development to the Trojan baseball program.

Tago most recently spent the 2017 season in the Seattle Mariners organization and was a Spring Training invitee for the club as a pitcher. The 47th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies, Tago played seven seasons in the minor leagues.

As a prep player in California, Tago was named the 2010 Powerade Player of the Year and earned All-American honors and First Team All-State honors. He was 13th ranked prep prospect in the Class of 2010. Prior to signing with the Rockies, he had committed to Cal State Fullerton.

Athletic Director Greg Haagsma commented on Coach Tago, “Peter brings an incredible passion for developing warriors for Christ. His professional experience and performance at a high-level will be an incredible resource for our student-athletes and his heart for building relationships and growing these young men spiritually, physically, and relationally is invaluable.”
