Ministry Development wanted to start the New Year as many often do, with resolutions or goals. Oftentimes people start strong, but as time progresses they falter and break whatever goals and aspirations they began with. The same happens among believers. We are filled with the Spirit one moment, and the next, we are forgetful, misguided, and neglecting our pursuit of Jesus. Ephesians 6:24, “…may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm” (ESV).

We are kicking off the new semester with a “Glow in the Dark” chapel series. The series consists of three messages: “Jesus, the Light of the World,” “From Dark to Light,” and “Reflecting God’s Light.” The purpose of this chapel series is to remind or equip students with the knowledge of Jesus, the light of God and men, and being able to stand firm in the evil days.

The chapels will cover what God’s light looks like in the person of Jesus and how to delight in Him. Furthermore, that we must have new hearts that believe, cherish, and love the light, Jesus. This will give us a practical reminder that we were not always in the light (and may still be in the dark) but it is only by the power of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ that we have been brought from darkness to light. To conclude, as believer’s, we are the image bearers of God which have been restored and renewed in order to imitate Him and reflect His light amongst a “twisted and crooked generation” (Matthew 5:16).

This series will hopefully give all of us a gentle reminder of who we are in Jesus, the power of the gospel, and the satisfaction, joy, and pleasure of reflecting Him to a watching world! (John 17:23)
