Valley Christian student-athlete Mara Kemmer ’16 added to her impressive resume’ in the off season. The soon-to-be junior earned national All-American honors for her efforts on the softball field.
Kemmer was named a Small Schools All-American and an Underclass All-American by MaxPreps.
As a pitcher, she finished with a 16-4 record with 281 strikeouts in 125 innings and had a 0.90 ERA. Kemmer finished second in the nation in K/7 IP. She recorded two no-hitters and six one-hit games. Kemmer also batted .646, scored 54 runs, drove in 32 and stole 33 bases. She finished the season with a 23-game hitting streak and had 21 multi-hit games.
In addition to her national accolades, Kemmer also was named the Arizona Small Schools Player of the Year by the Arizona Republic. She was named to the Arizona All-State Team by the Arizona Republic and earned 1st Team All-Tribune honors as well.
Kemmer was also named a 1st Team All-Academic selection by Sports360AZ.
The Trojans advanced to the D-IV State Championship game for the first time in school history. Valley Christian fell just short of capturing the title, losing 5-4 in extra innings.
