Valley Christian girls basketball enters the postseason as one of the top teams in the state, regardless of division, and a heavy favorite for the D-III title.
The #1 seeded Trojans ran through the regular season unblemished, finishing a perfect 29-0. VC captured the section tournament championship with a 64-24 win over Sedona Red Rock. It marks the second consecutive undefeated regular season for the Trojans, but this year’s team is more motivated than ever to capture that gold ball.
The Arizona Republic’s pick to win it all, the Trojans kick off the postseason on Saturday, February 21 at 7:00pm versus the Many Farms/Sedona Red Rock winner. The game will be played at Camelback High School.
Like their male counterparts, the girls team also leads the state in three-point field goals made this year with 209. Senior Ashley Koch (12.6 ppg) and sophomore Megan Timmer (12.0 ppg) lead the Trojans in scoring heading into the postseason.
As a school, Valley Christian leads the nation in three-point shots made this year.
