Valley Christian senior Gavin deFisser ’15 has verbally committed to attend and play golf at the College of William and Mary in 2015-16.
During his recruiting process, Gavin said that he, “wanted to leverage the opportunity Valley has provided to excel academically and go to a top ranked academic school. Being from Valley and having close relationships with the teachers and athletic program definitely helped me tell a good story in my recruiting process.”
Before verbally committing to William & Mary, he also met with coaches and visited the campuses of University of Arizona, Pepperdine, Stanford, Harvard, Columbia and Rice.
Gavin said, “I fell in love with the campus, the school and the history of Williamsburg. Plus, it is a great Division I athletic program with an outstanding tradition of golf. Coach Jay Albaugh was really impressive and is doing great things with the golf program. I’m excited to continue my education at William & Mary and be a part of their golf program.”
The College of William and Mary is located in colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Founded in 1693, it is the second-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and is considered one of the “Public Ivies.” William & Mary has educated four U.S. Presidents and numerous other key figures in our nation’s history.
