Valley Christian junior Garrett deFisser competed in the US Kids Teen World Championship at Pinehurst, North Carolina this summer. The event had over 500 players from 34 different countries playing four different courses in Pinehurst, North Carolina. After the first two days in the 15-18 year flight, a cut is made down to 72 players. The final round is played on the historic Pinehurst #2 course where Payne Stewart won his U.S. Open title.
Garrett had the second lowest round on the final day and finished in the top four (U.S.) for his age group. This earned Garrett a spot on the Team USA for the Teen World Cup match play event. Garrett and his partner from North Carolina led the entire match and beat the international team 67 to 70. Team USA won the World Cup event 6.5 to 2.5.
Garrett was a member of Valley Christian’s 2013 and 2014 State Champion golf teams. Evan Miller, RJ David and Garrett deFisser all return from last year’s team with hopes to bring home a the fourth-consecutive state championship under Coach Scott Longanecker.
