Valley Christian freshman Alijah Gammage ’18 was recently featured in an article on CTownRivals.com. Read a portion of the piece below:

dsc_0058If anything, the Gammage family works hard.

Fred Gammage, a former Brophy product, has had to work hard his entire high school and collegiate career. After high school graduation, Gammage decided to try to walk on at Arizona State.

Now, three years later, Gammage’s work has payed off. Just weeks before his redshirt sophomore year began, Arizona State coach Todd Graham decided to put him on scholarship.

At nearby Valley Christian High School in Chandler, Gammage’s brother, Alijah, is following in his brother’s footsteps. Despite being just a freshman, Alijah has emerged as an impact player on both sides of the ball by following the family mantra: hard work.

Gammage has gotten off to a great start in his high school career for the 2-2 Trojans, picking up interceptions in each of his first three games. Alijah is taking snaps with the first team at wide receiver and defensive back, as well as leading the team on kickoff returns.

“(Coach Jeff Rutledge) helps a lot,” Gammage said. “Mainly he just says to stay in the playbook. He’s very helpful, a father figure, and helps out with the whole team.”
