Seniors Christian Sanchez and Chris Williams were recently featured by CTownRivals. The Williams to Sanchez connection has been called, “as good a duo as any in Chandler.”
As of September 28, Christian Sanchez was fourth in the state in total receiving yards, and tied for third in receiving TDs, catching all of those from Chris Williams. Sanchez is on pace for 62 receptions, 1284 yards and 16 TDs- offensive numbers that are comparable with last year’s small schools player of the year.
Chris Williams has played well as the Trojans’ starter, and is on pace to throw for nearly 2,400 yards, which would be most for a Valley Christian quarterback in school history.
The Trojans are currently 2-3, and hoping to have success in sectional play so they can make a playoff run.
Both Christian Sanchez and Chris Williams are closing in on several VCHS school records. With 642 receiving yards, Christian Sanchez is only 107 yards away from tying Paul Hardiman ’03 for single season receiving yards. Sanchez is also only two receiving touchdowns shy of tying Kyle O’Brien’s record of 10 receiving touchdowns in a season. With 1,188 passing yards, Chris Williams is on pace to break the school record for passing yards in a season set by Brian Langhoff ’04.
Valley Christian hosts Santa Cruz this Friday, October 3 at 7:00pm.
