At Valley Christian Schools (VCS), we believe in recognizing and honoring the dedication and hard work of our community members. Last week, Board Member, Denise McClain had the distinct pleasure of presenting the Directors Award for Service to two outstanding members of the VCS community. This award is a small token of our immense appreciation for their significant contributions to the success of our school, staff, students, and the community as a whole.

On our K-8 campus, the Board of Directors proudly honored Rachel Lloyd. Rachel’s deep passion for VCS is evident in her tireless efforts to provide the absolute best for our students and teachers. Her enthusiasm and dedication extend into the VCVC community, where she serves alongside other parent volunteers. Through her service, Rachel brings out the creativity in others with love and joy, making her an invaluable asset to our community. Despite not seeking the spotlight, Rachel’s involvement is felt in most activities across both campuses. She exemplifies what it means to have a servant’s heart, often turning mundane tasks into enjoyable and memorable experiences.

On our high school campus, the Board of Directors honored Lisa Hollebeek, a dedicated member of the Valley community for over 20 years. While Lisa’s journey with VCS began as a student, she continues to contribute significantly as a volunteer to this day. In the 2003-2004 school year, Lisa and her friends created the school’s worship band, Valley Worship. Initially, the group began with dedicated seniors, who believed in vertical, Christ-centered, student-led worship, and their legacy continues to inspire. Demonstrating remarkable commitment, they came in early, stayed late, and gave volunteer hours to produce the school’s first album. Lisa’s contributions did not stop there. She served as a guidance counselor and became an inaugural member of the high school’s “Choir Crew” in 2013, in which she still serves to this day, dedicating over 250 hours of volunteer service per school year. Her efforts have been instrumental in the development and success of our Fine Arts program.

The Directors Award for Service is our way of acknowledging and celebrating the remarkable contributions of individuals like Rachel Lloyd and Lisa Hollebeek. Their passion, dedication, and selfless service have made a lasting impact on the Valley Christian Schools’ community. Please join us in congratulating and thanking them for their extraordinary efforts. Their stories inspire us all to contribute to the success and growth of our community.
