Shortly after retiring with 16 state and two national Coach of the Year awards, a spot in the National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and a national record 15 consecutive state championships, Dan Kuiper will be recognized by having the Valley Christian High School track named in his honor.
The ceremony will take place at halftime of the home football game at Valley Christian High School on Friday, September 26th.
Easily the most decorated track and field coach in the history of Arizona, Dan Kuiper’s 28-year coaching career came to an end this summer after stepping down to assume the duties of principal at Valley Christian. He has been a teacher or administrator at VCHS 32 of the 33 years the school has been in existence.
Current and alumni track athletes at Valley Christian are invited to a reception in Barnes Hall at 6pm on September 26th, and are invited to attend the football game and halftime ceremony at no charge.
Valley Christian will also be receiving the Don F. Stone Award for Overall Excellence by the AIA on Friday night in a ceremony between the first and second quarters.
