Why Christmas Extravaganza?

“Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.” Ephesians 5:2 (MSG)

This verse is the inspiration behind Valley Christian High School’s Christmas Extravaganza. We have put together this show in direct response to the extravagant love our Savior has lavished on us.

God sent his Son, Jesus, to be born in a stable, in tattered cloth, to live His life out before mankind, to suffer and die on a cross, so that those who believe in Him might have eternal life… There isn’t a more extravagant love than that. When I reflect on these things, I hear the song “What Can I Give Him” playing in my mind. The lyrics go like this, “What can I give him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb; if I were a wise man, I would do my part. Yet what I can I give him– give my heart.” We will never be able to give a gift even remotely close to the gift God has given to us. So instead, we give Him our hearts, our whole being. For the Fine Arts Department, that includes our desire to use the gifts and talents He has given us to be a joy to our community and to bring Him glory through the Arts.

If you choose to join us next week Friday for this year’s Christmas Extravaganza, our prayer is that you will have an encounter with the living God who gave us more than we could have ever asked for or imagined…His extravagant love.
