What did you do after Valley? Where did your life take you?

After Valley I played Volleyball and ran Track at Mesa Community College for two years. I was planning on moving on to another college on an athletic scholarship but my career was ended due to an injury. I then began leading worship around the Valley and through that met my husband, Mathew. We moved to Maricopa, AZ to help plant a church where Mat is a Pastor and I am the Creative Director. We have 2 girls ages 9 & 11 and a boy that’s 4. I am currently coaching a 12’s club volleyball team and both my daughters are on my team.

Tell us a little about your daily work:
I’m so blessed to be able to stay home three days a week to care for my kids, and then I get to go to work twice a week, to a job that I love.

What’s one surprising thing we don’t know about you?
We were blessed in ’09 with the adoption of our son, Hunter! No one would guess that he’s adopted because he looks JUST like us! 🙂

While you were at VCHS, which teachers, coaches or classmates had the biggest impact on you?
I would say that all the teachers had a big impact on me. There’s too many to name, but I’ll always remember Chemistry with Mr. Benson, Social Studies with Mr. Broek, Math with Mr. Nelson, Choir with Mrs. Yarbrough, Speech with Mrs. Templeton, Literature with Mr. Adams….the list goes on! Mr. Kuiper, Mr. Haagsma and Deanna Anglin had a huge impact on my athletic career as well! Thanks to ALL of them!

How do you stay connected with your friends from Valley and VCHS?
Facebook mostly!

What’s one lasting memory you have of VCHS?

There’s so many but the family feel of the campus…all the great teachers and close friends is what I remember most.

Do you have any advice for current students?
Remember to be who Jesus created you to be each and every day!
