What did you do after Valley? Where did your life take you?

After VCHS I went to Point Loma Nazarene University where I ran Track and Cross Country. I was an 8 time all conference performer and an All-American in the 800m. I graduated in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration. I married my college girlfriend in August 2012 and am now living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Tell us a little about your daily work:
I am currently in Sales with Boston Scientific in the Endoscopy division. I am based in San Francisco and I sell medical devices into the operating room, GI, and pulmonary space. On a daily basis I am working with physicians, hospital staff, and hospital administration on the use and treatment of our devices. It is a very challenging job, but also very rewarding. I am aiding physicians during procedures to give patients a better quality of life so everyday is worth the grind.

What’s one surprising thing we don’t know about you?
Since High school graduation I have lived in 5 States and 2 countries (Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington; USA and Slovakia).

While you were at VCHS, which teachers, coaches or classmates had the biggest impact on you?
Coach (and teacher) Kuiper. He always expected and pushed me to do my very best in the classroom and also on the track, even when I was reluctant. He turned me into the athlete and student I became in college and that drive and work ethic has now transferred into my adult life and I am very grateful for him and that.

How do you stay connected with your friends from Valley and VCHS?
I stay connected with VCHS through the internet and through my mom, who is still a coach at the school. I also still have many good friends from high school that I stay connected with regularly.

What’s one lasting memory you have of VCHS?Botma 2
The success I had in athletics, both individually and with my team. I was lucky enough to win 2 state titles in Basketball, three team titles in Track, one team title in Cross Country, and 7 individual state titles in Track and I will always have great memories of those moments with my teammates and coaches.

Do you have any advice for current students?
Enjoy VCHS! It is an amazing school with awesome faculty and staff that truly care for your success. Have fun and be random because the time goes by quickly!
