CHANDLER, Ariz. –Valley Christian High School will welcome three Trojan greats to its Athletics Hall of Fame. Alaina Bergsma ’08, Breanna Leslie ’09, and Isaac Remington ’07 will be honored at a ceremony during the Homecoming Block Party on Oct. 28 and recognized on the field during the football game that evening.
Alaina Bergsma Coble ’08 – Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field
As a senior at the University of Oregon, Bergsma Coble was named the AVCA National Player of the Year and Pac-12 Player of the Year. She also was honored with the Honda Cup for volleyball, given to the nation’s top female collegiate athlete in each sport. Bergsma Coble earned First-Team All-American and Third-Team Academic All-American honors her senior year. She began her collegiate career at Loyola Marymount, where she was named the West Coast Conference’s Freshman of the Year and was a member of the All-Conference Team.
At Valley Christian, she earned Arizona High School All-American honors as a senior. Bergsma Coble earned All-League, All-Metro Region and All-State Tournament team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. The Trojans advanced to the state tournament quarterfinals in her sophomore year and advanced to the final four her junior and senior seasons.
Besides being a four-year letterman in volleyball, Bergsma Coble lettered one season in both track & field and basketball.
In addition to her successful career on the court, Bergsma Coble won the Miss Oregon USA pageant in late November 2011 and later was honored with the Miss USA Pageant Most Photogenic Award in the event held in June 2012.
Bergsma Coble, who is currently playing professional volleyball, is also an active member of Team USA volleyball. Bergsma Coble is also a member of the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame.
Breanna Leslie ’09 – Track & Field
A standout track & field athlete, Leslie’s primary event is the heptathlon. Breanna attended Azusa Pacific University where she earned 21 All-American honors. She was named the NCCAA Athlete of the Meet at both the indoor and outdoor championships as a senior and was the 100m national champion. Leslie is in the top 10 all-time at Azusa Pacific in 15 different events and holds the school record for most points in the pentathlon and heptathlon.
In 2013, Leslie participated in the Pan-American Games for USA Track & Field, finishing fifth in the heptathlon. She has competed in several international meets representing USA and USA Track & Field Championship meets. She ranks ninth all-time in USA Track & Field for most points in the heptathlon.
At Valley Christian, Leslie won 11 individual track state championships and holds the school record for heptathlon, 300m hurdles, 200m and the 4x400m relay. She was a member of four state championship track and field teams under hall of fame coach Dan Kuiper.
Leslie is also a member of the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame.
Isaac Remington ‘09 – Football, Basketball
Remington was a starting defensive lineman for the University of Oregon football team. He played in both Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl wins for the Ducks and was a member of the team that went to the BCS National Championship game in 2011. He played in all 14 games of the 2011 Pac-12 championship season his junior year and 11 games in his senior year. Remington was fourth on the team his junior year in tackles for a loss. He finished his career with 53 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Remington began his college career at Phoenix College where he was named second-team All-ACCAC and second-team All-WSFL in 2009.
After the University of Oregon, Remington was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2014, he played for the Arizona Rattlers in 10 games and was a member of the Rattlers’ ArenaBowl Championship team.
At Valley Christian, Remington led the Trojans to a 12-1 record and state runner-up finish his senior year. Remington was a two-time All-State defensive end for the Trojans. He earned defensive line MVP honors at Oregon’s football camp prior to his senior year and was originally offered by the Ducks out of high school.
