Valley Christian junior Colby Jessup has been nominated for AZCentral’s Student-Athlete of the Week thanks to his incredible playoff performance in the AIA 3A Copper Division.

Jessup made a huge impact in the first-round game against Coolidge. He dropped 34 points, connecting on 8 of 13 three-pointers to lead the Trojans to a decisive win. In the quarterfinals, he stayed hot with 20 points in Valley Christian’s 82-48 victory over North Valley Christian Academy. His sharp shooting and leadership helped power the Trojans through each round.

This season brought new challenges for Valley Christian basketball. The team moved into the highly competitive 3A Copper Division, which combines the top programs from Leagues 1, 2, and 3. As a result, every game tested the team’s skill and grit.

Despite the tougher competition, the Trojans rose to the occasion. They battled their way through the bracket and secured a spot in the Copper Division Finals. Their playoff success reflects the team’s hard work, strong chemistry, and standout individual efforts.

Without a doubt, Colby Jessup has been one of the team’s biggest difference-makers. His ability to perform under pressure and score from beyond the arc has fueled the Trojans’ playoff run. Week after week, Colby has stepped up in key moments, making his nomination well-deserved.

Valley Christian is proud of Colby and the entire basketball team for their incredible season. As they head into the finals, the Trojans continue to show why they belong among Arizona’s best in high school basketball.
