Biography
Renee grew up in Illinois just outside of Chicago. In high school she moved to Fountain Hills, AZ and finished up her K-12 schooling at Fountain Hills High School. Renee then attended Arizona State University, which is where her love for special education began. After earning her teaching degree, she went on to work in various public school special education settings teaching math and language arts resource classes, self-contained classes for students with autism, and serving as a behavior intervention teacher specialist. She took a brief break from special education to teach dance at her alma mater, Fountain Hills High School! Ultimately though, she returned to her first career love of special education.
In 2009, the Lord blessed Renee with a wonderful family. She married her husband Jay and then their children Wesley and Alana came along shortly thereafter! Since then, Renee has continued her work in special education in different ways while being home as much as possible with her children. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst she provided in-home programming for children with autism, and taught in higher education. For the past ten years she has been teaching online at Capella University in the areas of autism and applied behavior analysis. The flexibility of the online environment afforded Renee the opportunity to both work and be in the home. Now that her children are older, she is ready to move back into the role in which God first called her – teaching special education. She is excited and honored to be part of the Valley family, both as a teacher and a parent.
Renee loves spending time with family and friends, studying God’s word, doing anything outdoors, dancing and snowboarding.
