What did you do after Valley? Where did your life take you?
After graduating from Valley in 1999 I played 1 year of basketball at Scottsdale CC and 3 years at Arizona Christian University (formerly Southwestern College) where I received my degree in Secondary Education:Business in 2004. In 2008 I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a masters degree in Education Administration: Organizational Leadership. I worked and coached men’s basketball at Arizona Christian University from 2004-2012 before moving to Lancaster, PA where I am the head men’s basketball coach at Lancaster Bible College. LBC is a NCAA Div 3 member that competes in the Northeastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). I married my wife Jessica on June 22, 2008 and we currently have a two year old daughter named Brooklyn and currently live in Lancaster, PA.
Tell us a little about your daily work:
The best part of my job is I get the opportunity to build significant relationships with my players and hopefully impact their lives in such a way that encourages them to grow and mature into Godly men that have a desire to serve other people.
What’s one surprising thing we don’t know about you?
My wife is currently pregnant with our second child and due early August.
While you were at VCHS, which teachers, coaches or classmates had the biggest impact on you?
Mr. Barry Barnes was a Bible teacher and football coach that significantly impacted my life as a student, athlete and coach. He was always real and genuine and cared for me as a “gent” and young man. I will never forget his smile and laugh…..and his head shake.
How do you stay connected with your friends from Valley and VCHS?
Facebook.
What’s one lasting memory you have of VCHS?
I will always remember the Price Rd. days. Back before God blessed VCHS with amazing facilities both academic and sports facilities. I think a certain type of character and appreciation is built inside you when you travel to practice football at Bethany Church or basketball at the Broadway Rec. Center or run track at Chandler HS. Those were the days, but extremely proud and grateful that VCHS has “grown up” over the years into one the best Christian Institutions across the nation.
Do you have any advice for current students?
Start to figure out what you are passionate about deep down inside…what fire burns inside you…what gets you up in the morning with anxiousness and a smile. Start to figure out how you can take that passion and serve God and others and make a career out of it. Work towards pursuing a life that is built for others.
