On Friday, May 21st Valley Christian High School has the incredible opportunity to partner with Phoenix Rescue Mission, an organization that provides resources for the homeless community in our own backyards.

We will be hosting a packing event in place of our Friday morning chapel, where students will be packing food and hygiene kits, that will ultimately bless over 300 families.

1 Peter 4:10-11 says “as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

We are going to rise up as a Valley Christian family, and use our gifts God has given us to serve His Kingdom. In order to reach our goal, we need to raise $6000. This may sound unreachable, however if each student donates just $20, we will make a huge impact.

“It’s impossible to say exactly how many homeless people are in the Phoenix area. But in 2015, officials counted 25,832 homeless people in Maricopa County throughout the year. On one particular night, there were 4,342 homeless individuals in shelters and 1,289 on the streets. Which means that on any given day, there could be up to 5,500 homeless people in our county. And a still-recovering economy means that more and more people are experiencing homelessness for the first time — and many don’t know where to turn.”
