The Valley Christian robotics teams had another impressive showing this weekend at the Goodyear Qualifying Tournament held at Estrella Foothills High School.
At the end of five qualifying rounds of play, the Rookie robotics team, “Trojan Robotics”, found themselves in first place and our veteran team, “Valley X”, was in third place. Heading into the tournament play, the rookies formed an alliance team with the veterans and an additional team from Buckeye.
The alliance, two-thirds of which was VCHS, went on to win the tournament, scoring incredibly high in some matches.
In addition, the “Trojan Robotics” team received the highest award given at tournaments: the INSPIRE award.
Both teams are qualified for the State Championships in Flagstaff on February 20-21. If they advance, the Regional Championships are in Oakland, Calif. in late March.
Also, the East Valley Tribune featured our rookie robotics team, Trojan Robotics, in their newspaper recently. You can view the article online here.
