The Trojan football season ended this weekend with a first round playoff loss at Pusch Ridge Christian. The record breaking season was recently featured by CTownRivals.

The Valley Christian Trojans took an improbable step forward in 2014.

Although their season came to an end in the form of a 60-42 loss to Pusch Ridge, Valley Christian can be proud of how their record-breaking season unfolded. With only seven seniors on the roster, Coach Rutledge installed a pass-heavy offense that saw QB Chris Williams, WR Christian Sanchez and many more flourish.

Williams and Sanchez battled for the starting QB job in spring, and it’s a good thing it worked out the way it did. Williams threw for a team record 2,527 yards and 35 touchdowns- 17 of which went to Christian Sanchez, who added 1,104 yards receiving to break a couple of teams records as well.

The future looks bright for Trojan football, as junior RB Michael Gay gave them 655 yards and 8 TDs on the ground, and standout freshman WR/DB Alijah Gammage pitched in 10 receiving TDs and 5 interceptions.

Valley Christian’s 7-4 record marks the Trojans first winning season, and the playoff appearance represents their first trip back to the tournament since 2010.

While the Trojans apprehensively await their fate as far as division placement within the next AIA realignment, they can move forward with confidence in the experience gained by their young and talented roster in 2014.
