Biography
Born and raised in Newberg, Oregon, Mr. Headrick grew up surrounded by Christian educators. After walking a whole 8 blocks from home to attend George Fox University and receiving a Bachelor’s in Mathematics, he found a teaching position at a charter school in Goodyear, Arizona so that he could follow his then fiancée, now wife (yay!) while she is pursuing a PhD in Math Education at ASU. After some transfers, unexpected AP teaching, and budget cuts, he found himself looking for work again, and after a brief stint as a substitute teacher and computer repair tech for Mesa Public Schools, he found his way here to VCS, where he started off in the Math department but quickly transitioned to teaching all things STEM. And yes, we do mean ALL things. Over his 4 years at VCS, he has taught Physics, DE Psychology, Intro to Computer Programming, AP Computer Science A, Intro to Cybersecurity, Engineering Design, Aerospace 1, Aerospace 2, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Math Enrichment, and even Yearbook, and his response every time he’s asked what he wants to teach next year is “Put me where you need me.”
