The end of the school year is a good time to reflect on why we exist as a Christian school. What sets us apart from other schools? Psalm 113:1-3 reminds us of one way we should be different. “Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”
As an educational institution it is tempting to have a laser beam focus only on academics. However, God calls us to more as a Christian educational institution. Although it is our desire for our students to succeed academically and be highly sought after by colleges and universities, Psalm 113 reminds us the purpose for doing so.
At Valley Christian High School we want our students to understand that their purpose for succeeding academically is to give our Lord and Savior praise and worship in whatever discipline they are studying or are called to later in life. The last part of Psalm 113:3 reminds us that every single aspect of God’s creation deserves his worship and praise. Every student, teacher, discipline, and every program must resound praise for our Creator.
Please pray for the school this summer as we plan and strategize how to educate our students so that the act of praise and worship is a natural extension of all of our programs. Thank you for all your support this year, and God’s blessing to all of you and your families. See you at graduation!
