The Cedillos family has created a scholarship in honor of Timothy John Garney. Timothy “Tim” Garney was a beloved father, grandfather, mentor, and friend who passed away from glioblastoma in March 2024. He was a great supporter of his grandsons’ education at Valley Christian, providing both physical and spiritual support. Tim loved riding his mountain bikes, playing racquetball and pickleball, and watching sports with his children and grandchildren. He retired from many years of service with Zebra Technologies, but continued to keep busy assisting with his son-in-law’s business. The Timothy John Garney Memorial Scholarship is open for application to any student attending Valley Christian Schools to receive a Christian education. This is a $5000 one-time scholarship toward VCS tuition that is officially open for applications until January 31st. The Johnson family has created a scholarship in honor of their precious grandchildren who carried a gene for Potter Syndrome. Samuel Keith Gellner and his 4 siblings carried a gene for this rare genetic disorder that led to each of the 5 children passing away before or soon after their birth. The birth of their 5 heavenly grandchildren inspired their grandparents, Keith and Robin Johnson, to create a scholarship for students with learning differences. They have created this scholarship to support students in the VINE program. The Johnsons’ hope is that through this scholarship, and any future gifts given, their grandchildren’s legacies will live on in the hearts and minds of special needs students and families at Valley Christian Schools. This is a $1,500 one-time scholarship toward VCS tuition that is officially open for applications until January 31st. To apply, visit valleychristianaz.org/gellnerendowmentscholarship/. The Jones family has created a scholarship in honor of God’s faithfulness. Every day before her five children left for school, Jessie Mae Jones gathered the family for prayer. She taught her children to trust God, and she nurtured them with the Word of God, always pointing them to the Word for answers to life’s challenges. As a result, she and her children experienced the faithfulness of our loving God! The Jones family wants young people to experience the riches that come from a relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With the Word of God as a guide, the scholarship offers the chance to experience the value of knowing the Lord. The prayer of Jessie Mae’s family is that the recipients of the scholarship learn the value of following Jesus Christ and not the world. This scholarship is officially open for applications until January 31st.
