Our school community remembers the life of Doug Bolkema, Class of 1987. Doug was in the first graduating class of Valley Christian and is the brother-in-law of VCS Administrator Dan Kuiper.
Doug was tragically killed in an auto accident in Florida over Christmas break. The Bolkema family has been a staple in the Christian education community in Arizona for countless years.
Through these tragic circumstances, our lifelong community is proving itself to be a comfort for the families. A dozen of his classmates were in attendance at his funeral last week and we’ve received 100+ messages, old photos, and memories from his classmates in the late 80s.
One alumnus commented, “I love the Valley Christian High School family and how our very short time attending school created lifelong bonds that can and are picked up at any time, as if time has not really passed.”
We ask that you please keep the Bolkema and Kuiper families in your prayers as they deal with this unimaginable loss, but are comforted by the promise of life in heaven for Doug.
