Dr. Chris Fryar joined the Valley Christian family in January 2018 as the Junior High Principal to launch the first campus to welcome 6-8 grade students. One year later in August 2019 he launched another new VCS campus as the Elementary Principal to welcome K-6 students, all while continuing to support the growth and operations at the Junior High as K-8 Administrator. In August 2020, Chris became the Executive Director of Academics (K-12) while retaining his role of Elementary Principal. Chris has developed an incredible culture and staff at each location, with an intensity and sincerity that is contagious among his staff, students, and parents alike.
Previously, the Lord led he and his family to serve over a decade at Brasilia, Brazil, as the K-12 Head of School of an international Christian school representing over 36 nations. His leadership roles have also included Finance Director, Junior High/High School Principal, Assistant Head of School, and classroom teacher as a member of the Network of International Christian Schools.
Chris grew up in Arkansas before spending a majority of his professional life in Tennessee. He has been married to his lovely wife Beverly for 20+ years. She is also an educator having worked as a curriculum coordinator, science/math teacher, and has background in oncology as a research nurse. They have three wonderful children: Caleb, Negash, and Sarah-Bethany.
Chris earned his Master’s – Educational Specialist from Union University and an additional Master’s in Christian Education from Liberty University. In 2020, he earned his Doctorate of Education Leadership and School Reform (Ed.D.) from Union University. Chris holds professional certifications with ACSI in the areas Bible instruction, All-Levels Principal, and Executive Director. He has participated and led several successful re-accreditation teams for both ACSI and AdvancED.
Chris enjoys running having participated in several full and half marathons, chapels, having fun at school, traveling, movies, college football, and spending time with his family.
